Video Game Cakes

These were made for a parent who specifically asked for Fortnite Battle Royale.  I made these before I knew anything about the game so I had to google ideas of what to make for each cupcake topping.

The next pictures are of 3 different Minecraft cakes. It's a popular ask.  The sword on the first one was originally made too big and was too heavy to stay on the cake so I had to make it twice. LOL.

The next one I did (for my own kid) was just square cupcakes arranged to look like the sword.  I did buy a square cupcake pan for this and it works well for making individual brownies too.

This one was so simple and looked great in the pictures.

The third Minecraft cake I've made was requested to be a simple sheet cake. So we designed it to look like a creeper face.  The hardest part of this was measuring correctly for the "puzzle" of squares to fit together right.

Lastly, I present two different Sonic the Hedgehog cakes (made several years apart from one another).  The second one shows how much my skills improved over time.

DIY Cupcake Kits

Wow it's been a while since my last post but I started getting a lot of spam comments on stuff and made it back to clean it up - now here I am.

I searched through a lot of what I've done and made the past few years to find some content and this was SUCH a fun project.  I actually made a bunch of these and sold them to friends and customers on my cake site.

These a DIY Mini Cupcake Kits.  Themed for holidays is my favorite way to pack these.  The pictures I'm adding are from Halloween themed kits.

I started by baking A LOT of mini cupcakes and making 3 colors of buttercream frosting.  This can be done with standard size cupcakes as well.

I packed 18 mini cupcakes in a box with 3 piping bags (do not cut the tips) of colored buttercream frosting.

Suggestions:
Halloween kits: purple, orange and green
Christmas kits: red, green, white
Easter kits: pink, baby blue, yellow

Next I packed 4 little sauce container with themed sprinkles, tied up the box with a ribbon and delivered.

This is such a fun activity for the kids.

Superhero Cakes!

I started a little Facebook business page for my cakes.  Mainly to be able to showcase them all in one place and get orders for more cakes (outside of just family).

Here's a compilation of the superhero cakes I've been doing for my kids - and other's kids. :)

The first time I ever tried working with fondant was this cake.  I had some heartache with the blue layer because the fondant wasn't as soft when I un-packaged it.  I didn't know the softening tricks back then that I do now.

It's still one of my favorites because the Iron Man layer lit up and it was 3.5 layers high (if you count the Hulk fist)

This is the only DC Comics cake I've done - Wonder Woman!  It was also my first time making a gluten free cake and it turned out wonderful.

For my youngest son's 3rd birthday I made simple Hulk cupcakes for his class at school and very NOT simply Marvel character face cupcakes for his party at home.  Those wound up being 22 DIFFERENT designs...yes you heard correctly.

From left to right & top to bottom (for those who aren't superhero moms): Dr. Strange, Thor, (a 3 candle), Hulk, Falcon, Captain America, Deadpool, Hawkeye, Loki, Spiderman, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thanos, Ant-Man, Nick Fury, Red Skull, Black Panther, Vision, Starlord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, Groot

This next one is the a pull apart cake.  It makes serving cake at some parties much easier.  I like to call it "Swinging into Action"

My oldest son's new obsession is Black Panther.  For his 7th birthday I did a small size cake AND cupcakes.
