Erupting Volcano / Dinosaur Cake

This is a cake I made for the 4th birthday party of a friend's son.

A simple round cake with dinosaurs.

For the candy rocks (to avoid buying way more than I needed, I just went to Menchies (frozen yogurt place) and filled up a cup with the rock candies and paid for them by weight.

I had my husband drill a hole in the top of one of our plastic toy volcanoes.  We put a small cup of water and dry ice inside the volcano to achieve the smoke.

This gave the cake the illusion of erupting without actually spilling anything out onto the cake. :) This kids lost their minds when the smoke started.
